A Happy Easter

Easter morning the boys were up at 6:45 (ugh) so I fell out of bed to experience the wonder of the easter baskets and egg hunting with the boys while Chester snored in bed. It was worth it, the boys were thrilled and cute and amazed... although Rulon said, "I still don't believe the Easter bunny makes any sense. Santa has elves to help him, but rabbits can't even carry a basket so it just doesn't seem like it's real. But that's just what I think about it." Good call buddy. It's worth it to note that he insisted on writing and mailing a thank you letter to the Easter Bunny just in case.

The boys got a few books and art supplies and plush dogs, they want a real one so much but their mom does not.  So, the stuffed animals will have to do.
Mina posed for the photo then moved on to what she really wanted for easter, the boys candy wrappers.
The dogs were a definite hit (and rumor has it they didn't cost the Easter bunny a thing!)
After the morning fun, we got prettied up and went to church. It was important to shift our focus to the real significance of the Easter holiday.
We are so blessed.

Easter Morning

"ok boys, NOW you can take stuff out of your baskets..."
Mads went straight for the edible stuff.
Rulon was way more interested in the books and stickers.
Well, it was a little bit of a challenge to get the boys to look at the camera or seem very animated, but hey, they have been sleep deprived with cousins here for the past few days. They were actually pretty excited to dig in to their baskets but I was slow with the camera and missed the moment. Oh well, still cute.

Easter Eggs!!

This morning we drove through a crazy April blizzard to spent some time decorating Easter eggs with Melissa and the family!! My boys don't even realize how lucky they are because without Melissa (and Lindsay last year in Texas) they would never have decorated an Easter egg in their young lives! This was before the fun began, we gave some little rice krispie treat nests with robin eggs in them to each of the kiddos (and Melis & Dan of course)
Ready... set... go!! Nice set up Melissa, seriously great organization to the project!!!!!!!!!
Rulon did great, pretty much did everything on his own. He is so careful it makes it easy for me to focus on helping Mads.
Look at Mads watching Rulon's every move, a common sight :)
Mads liked to scribble or have me write his name on each egg before dunking it in a color.
Rulon is pointing out his favorite egg.
It was a total blast!! The funy thing was when we got home Rulon wanted to try one of his eggs, so I helped him peel it and he was already confused about the "hard" egg inside the shell. You see, we have never had hard boiled eggs in our house. So I cut it in a few slices on a plate put a little salt on a piece and Rulon took a taste. Now he is scarred for life. He about puked, cried and tantrumed in the same second. He RAN to the garbage spit it out and ran down the stairs yelling how he didn't ever want his eggslike that EVER again. So, that went well. :)
