Game Time for the Blue Owls

Rulon has his first tee ball game this weekend and it was awesome!  Rulon was totally focused and ready!  The teams are sponsored by the Orem Owlz.  Judging by the t-shirt sizes, they must think this is the 14 year old tee ball league.  Either that or the league of 6 year old giants.  But, the kids all looked nice in their blue dresses and they didn't seem to notice the difference anyway.

"Mom, do you think I might need to slide a few times today?"
"Well, sure! I mean, this IS baseball son."

"Mom, take a picture of me holding my bat."

End of the year programs

Mads Program
Mads program was first, a cute assortment of songs with hand motions and little props.  He was really excited about this program and that we were coming to his school with him to watch him perform! Here's a little clip:  Watch closely, this is as good as it gets.

Mads did not sing one word to one song, did not do any of the cute hand motions, and didn't even really smile at all.  But he did yawn real good a few times.  Caught a pic of that.

Nope, not even a grin when he was a lion.

No eye contact for the class picture.
But you should have seen the smile on his face when he got his hands on a few cookies with blue frosting and a cup of blue punch for refreshments!! Missed the photo op on that one!  So Chester and I hugged him big and told him how great he did anyway and called it a day.  I love Mads, He just does things his own way.

Rulon's Program
Rulon was great to watch, totally happy to be performing, but a little embarassed too.

"E is for exercise to keep our bodies strong."
Love the sorta embarassed but proud body language.

You are my Sunshine
Wish I could have heard the little exchange Rulon had with the girl beside him after the song.

First grade next year?!
We are super proud of our boys and  happy to see them growing up so cleverly! Is that a word? Who cares. We love these boys!!

T-ball Practice

I'm not sure if it's more fun to hear Chester offering pearls of baseball wisdom to Rulon or to see Rulon hanging on his dad's every word!!  Rulon has practiced hitting and catching with his dad many times out in the back yard.  This practice, however, was different.  Rulon was dressed from head to toe in real baseball stuff!!  Photogs beware, when the camera starts rolling, the ball comes flying...

 That smile says it all!

Today was the first nice day in what feels like a month and Rulon's team finally had a chance to practice.  Rulon did great on 1st base.
And even better batting!  Now you see it...
 Now you don't!
And the fans went WILD!!!  Ok, no they didn't, but they did enjoy watching.
Rulon has his first game this weekend.  Need I suggest that he is pretty excited?

Mads Turned 4 Today!!!

Happy Birthday Mads!!
Mads decided on a Red Sox theme and was so excited to eat some Red Sox this morning!
I think he was actually most interested in that big bouncy ball on the table...

Mads' commentary while I was making his birthday cake:
"Mom!!! You are actually really doing it!!! Good Job!"

Huff and Puff... and blow the candles out.

When asked the question, "Who gets to eat cake for breakfast anyway..."
Mads, "Um, I do since I'm a kid and it's my own birthday."
Mads was pretty happy with his new Monster truck and bouncy ball (from Rulon and Mina), his totally cool new LeapFrog handheld game, and his truck money bank (from mom and dad).  Of course, the wonderful thing about Mads is that he was happy when he thought he was only getting a Red Sox cake... to share.  Mads is the most generous and fun loving, busy child EVER!!
Happy Birthday Madser!
