The night before Rulon's birthday he was up late with me mixing the colors of frosting for his Mr the King birthday cake and when he suggested to me that "it might be a good idea" if he stayed up to watch me color in The King... I just agreed!! Before going to bed he told me, "Mom, I am not sleepy or tired or resty or relaxy so I can't sleep tonight. But mom, if I don't go to sleep will I still turn 4 tomorrow?" My reply, "better not risk it, I dont think we want to take all your presents back to to store tomorrow so maybe just sleep a little."Here's how the big day went:
1- He woke up at 6am (whew, enough said)
2- Breakfast was the Frosted Flakes he chose at the store the night before
3- Decorated the kitchen with blue & red streamers for fun while Chester was at work from 7-10am
4- When Chester got home Rulon opened several cooool presents (ambulance, Red Sox jersey, cars, hockey goal...thanks to several gift givers)
5- Sang happy bday and ate a Mr The King birthday cake and Birthday Bash ice cream
6- Played hard
7- Napped harder
8- Woke up, confirmed it WAS still his birthday, and played really hard after a cruel timeout for being mean, then Rulon got a timeout too... :)
9- Took fun calls from grandmas, aunts uncles and a few cousins too... until he was called away to address a broken arm emergency (you know, with the new ambulance and all)
10- Cooked up chicken nuggets & french fries for a dinner by Rulon's special request
11- Sacked out early from exhaustion
I still don't know for sure who loves Rulon's Red Sox clothes the most... Rulon or Chester! :) It was a super, great, wonderful, awesome day!

Wish we could have been there. Sure glad Rulon got a little sleep so he could turn 4. Great cake, fun to get a peak at the smiling birthday boy on his big day.
ANother totally AWESOME birthday cake! Glad he had a special birthday and woke you up at 6am so you could enjoy it, too. Oy! Love you!
That is a rockin' cake! Way to go Momma Julie. Love seeing those cute boys. Rulon looks pretty happy with that cake and the goodies!
You rock at making bday cakes, whether it's for big or small people. Maybe we'll have to give Rulon a late birthday call since we were camping and out of service on our cell phones.
What a day for a newly turned 4 year old. You really partied it up for him.
